Notice when the front lens cap is up it protects the RMR Red dot glass, if you shoot with both eyes open you don't need to see through the RMR as your brain will super-impose the Red dot onto the target. Or you can twist the lens cover to open downwards if you need to close your left eye to gain a sight picture...
